The iPod Touch has gained a faithful fan base because of its combination of great looks, sleek functionality and the cool feature set which includes games, media player and web surfing. If you’re an Apple family, this is the gadget you get the kids to stop them clamouring for an iPhone when they’re six years old. The only problem is you need to spend several hundred dollars for the privilege of owning one.

The Android powered PocketDroid tablet, is a direct competitor to the iPod Touch, but at a price which makes the eyes water. You get a 4.3 inch touchscreen, 800MHz processor, a microSD slot to increase storage to 32GB, WiFi, Ethernet and a full set of media codecs for movies, music and games. Plus it comes with Android Market/Play. How much for all that? A sizzling $72.73/£45.89. Sure it may not have the coveted Apple logo on the back, but how much is that logo really worth if you’re on a budget?
