Inspired by Descent 2: Freespace, Wing Commander Saga is an open-source project that is 10 years in the making. The Darkest Dawn is a fan-made project in the space combat simulator series, which takes place at a time after the Battle of Terra. Humanity keeps pushing itself closer to extinction at the hands of the savage Kilrathi Empire. Facing constant defeats, the Confederation has lost all hope. The Kilrathi are making preparation for a final decisive strike to finish off humanity. Faced with a desperate situation, the humans must muster all the courage and camaraderie to do the impossible in order to fight its seemingly inevitable destruction.
