Speculation about the leading lady of Apoorva Lakhia's Zanjeer remake has finally come to an end. Sources reveal that desi girl Priyanka Chopra has been signed to play the lead role in the film.
Reportedly, Priyanka's character would be very different from that of Jaya Bachchan's, in the original. Chopra's character will be very modern and glamorous. "Priyanka will play a woman of today.She will be cast as a US-returned owner of a cafe. Though she will be dressed most glamorously she won't be doing any songs or item numbers," a source was quoted saying.
Buzz has it, that the actress has been paid close to Rs. 6 crores for both Telugu and Hindi versions of the film and also that the lead actor of the film Ram Charan Teja has promised to help Piggy Chops with her Telugu, if she helps him with Hindi.
Other actors who've been roped in for the new-age version of the cult classic are Arjun Rampal, Mahie Gill and Prakash Raj.

Priyanka Chopra would soon be called the 'rani of remakes', it seems. After appearing in remakes of two Amitabh Bachchan movies viz. Don and Agneepath, Priyanka has reportedly been roped in to be the female lead in Apoorva Lakhia's remake of the 1973 blockbuster Zanjeer.
